Youth and Student Programmes
Overview One of the statutory objectives of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is to promote and develop the capital markets industry in Uganda. Public education has been identified as one of the ways of attaining this goal. In consideration of this, the CMA embarked on a number of public education drives like the Office to Office initiative, public seminars, exhibitions, and road shows among others, which have catered for quite a large section of the public. CMA recognizes that the youth are a very important part of the capital markets industry in Uganda. The majority of the population is made up of youth, who in addition to forming the backbone of the society, have a lot of potential to grow the capital markets industry. In this regard, the Authority has initiated tailor-made programmes for the youth; specifically intended to instill a savings and investment culture in the youth. If the youth can begin to save at a tender age, then by the time they are in their prime years, they will be seasoned savers and investors, which will in turn be good for our economy.
